CONGRATULATIONS to the ÂÜÀòÊÓƵ (UIC) for being awarded the Certificate of Autonomous Status by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) on November 24, 2024, at the Philippine International Convention Center. 🎉✨

This recognition is part of CHED’s grant of autonomous and deregulated statuses to 92 higher education institutions (HEIs) in the country, with 77 HEIs receiving autonomous status and 15 HEIs granted deregulated status.
According to CHED Memorandum Order No. 07 s. 2024, signed by CHED Chairman Prospero de Vera III, this status is valid from September 16, 2024, to September 15, 2027, and brings significant privileges to the recognized institutions:
- The autonomous and deregulated HEIs are allowed significant freedom to design their curriculum, establish linkages with recognized foreign HEIs, and get priority in the grant of subsidies and other financial incentives or assistance from CHED.
- They are also exempted from regular CHED monitoring and evaluation, as well as from the issuance of Special Order for their graduates.
- Autonomous HEIs specifically have the privilege to open new programs without securing prior CHED approval.
- Privilege to establish branch/es or satellite campus/es without securing government authority from CHED.
- Privilege to offer extension classes and distance education course(s)/program(s) to expand access to higher education and to establish affiliation with recognized foreign higher education institutions in pursuit of international standards of education.
- The private higher education institutions should also ensure that the existing CHED PSGs for twinning/ networking/ linkage programs are fully complied with. The private higher education institutions should inform the CHED Central Office at least one semester prior to the start of intended academic year such will be offered or established.
- Authority to grant Honoris Causa to those deserving, per pertinent provisions of existing CHED issuance on conferment of honorary degrees.
